If it wasnt for ray ...

If it wasnt for ray harryhausen people like speliburg, lucas,jackson,cameron wouldnt have been influenced 2 make films.Also harryhausen was the main special effects between the 50s and 70s.

@goobertay 300 is ...

@goobertay 300 is one of the worst movies ever

Well of course 300 ...

Well of course 300 will be more visually spectacular, being as it is 40 years later, CGI instead of stop motion. You seem to fail to realise just how much time and effort it takes to pull something like this off in the 60's. So obviously it'll look dated, but it doesn't make it any less awesome then it is

@Haydendc92 at ...

@Haydendc92 at least i didnt waste 2 hours watching this shit.... 300 is a much better movie with more realistic special effects...this shit is just boring

@0AllForNaught0 ...

@0AllForNaught0 oh please harryhausen is an overrated fag...how in the world did this guy influence tim burton? harrysuckerhausen shouldnt have been making shitty movies if he didnt have the technology for it... instead, its some movie with clay skeletons and youre going ape shit about how great it was in 1963...fuck 1963...live in the now mother fucker i will pwn harrysuckerhausen even with using sketch up...that guy sucks dick

you're such a retard

you're such a retard

As a 17 year old ...

As a 17 year old who didn't like Avatar, I absolutely love these effects. They're dated, shakey, unrealistic and rather quaint, but that's why I love 'em. It has a sort of charm to it.

Could you have done ...

Could you have done it in "maya 3D" in 1963, you dirt flavored douche' bag? You're a typical irreverent monkeyturd that can't appreciate how this movie captured imaginations in '63, and back then, Ray Harryhausen WAS your 3D effects. What you need is to go into the wilderness somewhere and unplug from the PC your mom bought you for a few weeks. Either you'll learn to appreciate the steps necessary for progress to happen, or you'll die alone where no one can find you. Either way, we win.

Great scene::::::: ...

Great scene:::::::Sir James Pootingturd.

Even by todays ...

Even by todays stanards this is cool

@puationstation ...

@puationstation skeletons dont have shadows in this shitty movie...and youre defending it? 300 was wayyyy better than this piece of shit movie

@puationstation ...

@puationstation well if the movie was going to have dated special effects maybe they shouldnt have made it in the first place!

@goobertay hahaha ...

@goobertay hahaha morron! there was no maya 3d 47 years ago! not even the computers or cameras that we have now... imagine what could they do if they had that!... so this movie dosen't suck, you do by saing fucking gay and talking about you and what can you do with new tech... haha fucking loser like you, i hate them!

I always saw this ...

I always saw this as a kid and thought as to how it was done and yeah. thought that it must have been fuckeennn hard. and know i know how it was done i can appreciate it. it sick. awesome. love it hah ahahah.

@goobertay wow, you ...

@goobertay wow, you can do this...in 2010? you must be some kind of supergenius and for sure you are better than the people who have done this in 1963...47 years ago!!! ...seems like you are the prototype of the typical "i-am-soooo-cool-and-the-other s-are-all-loosers-idiot" :D

@BlackSabbathmad ...

@BlackSabbathmad this movie sucks...i can do this in maya 3d fuucking gay

CLASSIC!! that ...

CLASSIC!! that music is so creepy , thats what modern day movies lack in. WHo's gonna see the clash of the titans remake?? if titans is a success, they will probably make jason into a remake.

Some years ago, I ...

Some years ago, I saw the Skeletons at the Filmmuseum Berlin and that's how it was done. That's the reason, why the Skeletons are never behind the actors.

In fact that what ...

In fact that what they did, then the skeletons were added to time every movement of the actors. This scene is probably the best and most complicated one made with stop motion.

only one word: ...

only one word: INCREDIBLE!!!

even today, a great ...

even today, a great looking fight scene.

Amazing! Did the ...

Amazing! Did the actors just have to learn a sequence and mime?

All I know is the ...

All I know is the skeletons were filmed in stop motion My guess is that the actors were filmed on location swinging their swords at nothing and the skeletons were composited in after filming them in front of a chroma screen. If that was the case, they may have had to do a lot of work in figuring out how to position and angle the camera so they don't appear to be out of place
